There are many benefits which are associated with regular exercise. Strong bones, toned body, strong muscles, healthier skin, better mood, better sleep, stronger immune system, and a healthy body are just a few valuable benefits of regular fitness. However, in spite of all of its beneficial factors, many of us still do not follow a regular workout regimen. This is mostly due to our hectic schedules or our lack of willingness. No matter what the reason may be, you should try to free at least one hour per day for exercise so that you can reap its many benefits.
One major benefit is weight control. Many of us want to tone our bodies or lose some of that unwanted fat and exercise can help improve or maintain your weight. A regular fitness regimen can also help you build stronger muscles. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn. For each pound of muscle you add to your body, you will burn additional 35 to 50 calories. And what most people don’t know is that muscle burns calories even when you are not working out.
Another benefit of exercise is stronger bones. Weight bearing exercises and resistance exercises are the most effective forms of fitness when it comes down to building strong bones. Some worthwhile activities include walking, running, jogging, and dancing. Aside from physical benefits, a regular fitness regimen can also improve your mood and lower your stress levels. When you are involved in physical activity your stress hormone levels reduce and you release a lot of tension. A reduction in stress can lead to better sleep and a better mood. Your mood is regulated partly by a neurotransmitter called serotonin. What physical activity does is it boosts serotonin in the brain which in turn calms our mood. So if you are still in doubt regarding the benefits of exercise, try to follow a workout regimen for about two weeks and experience the results for yourself.
