Author: Rodrigo Rehn

Are you a teenager who is ready to experiment with new and exciting things like online dating? Or are you the parent of a teenager who is getting sleepless nights with the thought of your teen dating?

Whichever category you may fall into, remember there are bad and good things associated with every age. We do not say that you should not have fun or be skeptical of anything that is new, but it is always better to take precaution especially when you are stepping on unknown grounds.

We all know that teens is a very vulnerable stage in ones life and the happenings during this period can either flower or scar a person. Online dating is being used by everyone so why should only teenagers be deprived from getting to know people from other backgrounds.

You may know as a parent that you cannot stop your child from online dating even if you have the internet connection disconnected, for there are way too many methods to get access, and you also know that this is the stage of stubbornness and rebellion.

On the contrary, if you update your child on the various perils and help them to avoid those dangers, you will be assured that your child is safe and probably both of you could even enjoy the experience together.

If you are a teenager remember that your parents want the best for you and there is a reason behind their questions and admonishments, for they do not want to see you getting hurt and want to protect you from all dangers.

Violence is the most prevalent risk
Most of the teenagers are victims of violence either after a break up or due to other immature traits such as possessive nature, jealousy, uncontrolled anger, or sexual advancements. Due to their inexperience and no knowledge about these attributes the teenager may perceive these as signs of love rather than abuse.

Hiding the truth
Some teenagers may suffer extreme violence and abuse but are reluctant to disclose the truth to their parents for fear of being separated from their partners. This is a very dangerous sign.

Choose a reputed site for your safety
First of all if you are a parent help your teenager to choose a good standard reputed online dating site which has no or less reports of fraud, abuse and violence. And if you are a teenager take your parents assistance for they know how to guide you.

No personal information
You should not give your personal information to your online dates till you have known each other well and met face to face. If there is a meeting arranged it should be done in the presence of your parents and you should be dropped and picked up by your parents. If possible your parents should meet the online date once for their own reassurance.

Pay heed to these tips and experience the joy and fun of teen dating.
