How to Have a Successful First Date

For anyone who is in the market of dating, the first date can be the most anticipated and most feared event when exploring a new relationship. If the date goes well it could mean the beginning of a long and eventful friendship, but if it goes bad, it can often times lead to disappointment and depression for one of the two parties. That being said, here are few tips to having a successful first date.

First thing is first, you need to get to know the other party. That is whole point of dating, so take some time and plan an event which will allow for a lot of interaction. Do something that will encourage laughter and that will provide a relaxing atmosphere where the two of you can feel comfortable, but still have the option of leaving your comfort zone. You know best what your interests are; so do something that will help you get to know them better.

Learn to listen, I mean honestly; who likes a me-monster? There will be plenty of time to talk about you; so take a minute and let them do the talking. Listen to the things they have to say, its a perfect way for you to show interest in the things they enjoy. Ask relevant questions to show them that you really are paying attention. You will notice that as you listen and ask good questions, the conversation will go on an on, and you will be able to locate things that you have in common.

Remember that this is a first date, so set your expectations to match that. You are both out there to have fun, and to get to know each other; its not a personal interview for a spouse. Relax and enjoy the time you have together, if its a match then there will be a second date, but dont think about that; just enjoy the moment. If there is a lot of pressure, you wont be able to have a good time and neither will they, so take it easy and just relax.

Most importantly, do your best to be yourself. You dont have to be somebody else, after all, they already said yes to going out with you. Be confident with who you are and treat them as you would treat anyone else, with kindness and respect. Dating doesnt have to be a hard task, but rather an adventure that everyone wants to explore.
