At the advent of online dating, it was being looked down upon as a desperate means of finding a partner. It was an era when the concept of Internet dating was at its nascent stage. People were dependent on meeting people in traditional ways such as at parties, wedding occasions, clubs and bars well. Unlike online dating, people would most often be dependent on a third person to meet another person. There used to be things such as group dating where people with relatively shy characteristic would participate to know how to break the ice and start a conversation with a stranger.
When a man would meet a woman at any social events, and they would feel the mutual attraction towards each other, the only way they could contact each other was either via telephone or e-mails. Sometimes, they would also catch up with each other at any nearby cafe if they would live in the same locality. Then came a time when people found themselves extremely busy and the lifestyle became busier. Finding time for romance became one of the most difficult tasks. The only time when working professionals and busy singles would find time to indulge in fun with singles was when they came back from work and sat in front of their computer.
Sensing an opportunity in the loneliness and helplessness of those young singles, some entrepreneurs started off online dating sites to offer an appropriate platform to busy singles and working professionals looking for compatible and like-minded partners. After the initial hiccups, online dating took off as people found that it worked for them. The gradual growth of online dating business prompted many others to embark on online dating business ventures. This gave rise to many social networking sites, blog sites and other online dating forums that created a perfect platform for busy singles to connect with eat other without compromising their work life.
